Tom Pioreck has been with Grassi & Co. for 10 years where he started out as a junior network administrator and main helpdesk technician. The helpdesk allowed him to become familiar with not only the systems in the environment, but also the business processes that were occurring within the systems. The firm has grown significantly over that time and he has been an integral part in the expansion and evolution of the technical capacity as the firm continues its growth.
Having an interest in data security and forensics, Tom has kept leadership up-to-date with not only the requirements, but future trends, and works with department and service line leaders to build an environment that is forward-looking. His initial background in technical theatre allows for a full picture view—where the needs and considerations from an organizational efficacy standpoint are always considered as regulation, requirements, and new technologies are being considered. Tom is also responsible for all governance, regulatory, and compliance points from a technology aspect and works with other members of the firm to keep all items in agreement.
He leads Grassi & Co.’s security efforts by monitoring their enterprise, reviewing emails that staff find questionable, as well as look for indications of compromise within the firm. Tom runs all internal trainings for security, as well as technology, ranging from basic computer use, to identifying and handling threats within a user’s local system. Partners confer with him to discuss security issues of their clients in order to provide additional insight and service. He has also given external seminars to client groups and organizations affiliated with the firm.
